Mansfield Pet Care

Q1. How do I book?

A1. We need to meet you and your pets first. Depending on the service this will take place at our home or yours. Once we have met you and we are all happy, including the pets. A booking can then be made and we can start providing you with our service. To make a booking for home-from-home dog boarding a £5.00 per day deposit must be paid.

Q2. What insurance does Mansfield Pet Care have?

A2. We have specialised Pet Handlers Insurance covering public liability, care custody and control (liability to animals) and key holding cover. This means; all pets are covered for loss, theft or death; All pets are covered for any injury to a third party animal or damage to third party property.

A3. Veterinary advice will always be sought, if your pet requires veterinary care you will be required to reimburse the cost to Mansfield Pet Care or the veterinary practise on your return.

Q4. Who will care for my pets?

A4. See the About page for our main carers. The only other people that will ever care for your pets will be our close family members.  Dog walking and any visits to your home will only be carried out by carers you have met unless in the case of an emergency and we will always endeavour to inform you beforehand.

Q5. Will you take all dogs on your home-from-home dog boarding service?

A5. We only accept friendly, well socialised dogs. We try to cater for all kinds of dogs but confident, playful and friendly dogs are most suitable. We accept boisterous dogs but please be aware there is a difference between boisterous and poorly trained / hyperactive, if you have a boisterous dog we will require you to show us they can follow commands.

We cannot accept all dogs as we have our own pets and often there will be other boarders, we will refuse any dogs which show any aggressive tendencies towards dogs or people and any dog that doesn’t follow basic commands. We do not accept entire males (un-neutered) over 18 months of age or bitches in season. There is no minimum age for boarding but all dogs must be house trained and know basic commands.

Q6. What do I need to provide for my dog when boarding with you?

A6. There are no requirements for what should be provided for you dog. Prices are based on you bringing enough of your dogs usual food with you for the duration of the stay. If you would like us to provide food there will be an extra cost. We recommend that you bring a few of your dogs familiar items such as their bed or a few toys and treats, possibly their feeding bowls just to make them feel more at home. If your dog is on any medication you will need to provide enough for the duration of their stay.

Q7. Will you walk my dog off the lead?

A7. Only if you instruct us to. The standard procedure is to walk dogs on the lead but we are happy to let your dog off the lead in areas it is allowed and that we deem it safe to do so, however if your dog causes problems while off the lead we will go back to walking on a lead.
